Your first day at TOPdesk

What time is it? It’s probably a few minutes before 10.00 am, because we let you sleep in on your first day. After the first day we usually expect you to come in somewhere between 8.00 h and 10 o’clock and stick around until 8 hours later, depending on your contract, excluding your lunch time. But how many hours you work, how to register and what to do with overtime you’ll find in this chapter. All about the hours you will spend at TOPdesk!

What do we mean by contract hours in this chapter? Mostly the duration of your working week. You decide how many hours you want to work during the week, with a span between 24 to 40 hours a week. Your workday at the offices in a 40-hour job lasts 8 hours per day, for 5 days a week. But would you like a day off? Or would you like to have shorter workdays? Customize your contract with different hour arrangement, so your workweek fits into your life. What to do, to change things up? Share your thoughts with your talent lead. You can change your contract whenever you want.  

Overtime and working outside office hours  

No overtime, please! We really believe a work week should be 40-hours only, or less. Obviously, we’re flexible. So it’s okay to work a little late occasionally to finish a project. But we believe spare time is super important for your overall health, so ideally we want you to compensate those extra hours as ‘time for time’ preferably in the same week. Keep your hours in mind, we trust you to be responsible with your time! 

Working outside the office hours, for example a TOPdesk event like SEE or trade show? TOPdesk has a financial compensation in place for approved overtime. By default you will receive € 8,- gross per hour approved overtime. There are additional arrangements for specific cases of overtime for consultancy, support and SaaS-standby. How to register your hours 

Curious how we manage your hours? We trust you to record your own. On one of your first days in TOPdesk your talent lead or colleagues will take you into the wonderful land of hour registration (internal only). Register your hours monthly before the 10th of the next month, to help our financial department to always be up-to-date.  

Do you work in consultancy or as an on-call employee? Remember to submit the report of your worked hours. No declarable hours? Simply save your hours registration.
