What are you going to do as an engineering manager?
Lead autonomous, high-performing engineering teams to deliver high quality results! Working with your Product and UX manager peers in (or out of) the product group, you’ll set and monitor goals and deliver results in line with the objectives of the product and technology function at TOPdesk. You’ll provide technical guidance and support to engineering teams, ensuring adherence to software development best practices and for productivity improvements. You’ll lead your teams in the planning process and ensure successful execution and timely delivery of solutions. You’ll also add technical roadmap items and maintain the technical depth of the product area under your responsibility.
As our new engineering manager, you’ll excel at fostering professional growth and development. You’re an empathetic leader who understands and addresses the needs or concerns of your team. You’ll be adept at coaching and mentoring engineers as well as communicating and engaging with the product and technology leadership team.
You will take charge of the staffing process, from hiring to assessments, ensuring you build a strong, skilled team. By effectively organizing and managing the team, you’ll drive optimal performance, efficiency and productivity. Your leadership will foster a collaborative, positive environment that encourages creativity, innovation, and a commitment to excellence.
Where will you end up?
At TOPdesks headquarters in Delft! As an engineering manager, you’ll be part of a management team that includes a group product manager, a UX design manager, and other engineering managers, all working together to oversee one of our product development groups consists of more engineering teams.
You will manage between 5 and 15 software engineers, architects, scrum masters and testers, distributed across one to three engineering teams, ensuring alignment, performance, and the successful delivery of key objectives. Our development teams are based in the Netherlands, Germany and Hungary. You will be co-located with most of your team members, and you will report to a VP of Engineering.
Are you our new engineering manager?
- You have a bachelor’s degree, preferably in a technical discipline. A master’s degree is a plus.
- You are proficient in English, ensuring clear communication across teams.
- Empathy is one of your core strengths, allowing you to connect with others effectively.
- You bring strong coaching and mentoring skills, helping others grow and succeed.
- With a keen sense of organization, you drive results efficiently and consistently.
- Your problem-solving abilities allow you to tackle challenges head-on and find innovative solutions.
- As a leader, you take a proactive approach to managing both up and with your peers, ensuring alignment and progress.
- You have a technical background with 5 years of experience, including 3 years in a leadership role.
- You understand programming languages such as Java or TypeScript and are familiar with technologies like Vue 3, MS-SQL, Azure, microservices and micro front-end architecture, and DevOps practices. The type of experience required depends on the actual teams you’re going to lead.
