What are you going to do as a Data Engineer?

As a TOPdesk Data Engineer, you understand that structuring, combining and streamlining data yields important results and crucial insights. You find it a fascinating challenge that with some knowledge and experience – but far from all the answers – we at TOPdesk are at the beginning of a challenging journey. And you have the chance to help shape our journey! The end goal, of course, is to create a functional, future-proof architecture.

You’ll receive input and feedback from stakeholders in various departments, and you’ll translate technical requirements into the optimal data infrastructure, which you’ll want to continuously improve. As a Data Engineer, you understand data needs like no one else, and you’ll get to work designing, building and maintaining data pipelines, ETL systems and SQL databases. And that includes troubleshooting! Together, you and your colleagues will get to the root of every problem, always keeping a sharp eye on the challenges of the technical infrastructure as well as TOPdesk’s business goals.

Where will you end up?

You’ll join Team Zelda, an international team at our head office in Delft. Team Zelda is part of the global IT domain and focuses on data, integrations and supporting infrastructure as well as automation. Your immediate colleagues are four IT professionals who are working to create and implement a vision for Azure integrations while migrating and improving existing integrations built on Apache Camel. As the team also operates internationally, English is our go-to language.

Team Zelda is one of six internal IT teams and works closely with Team Hubble, Team Techy and our Development colleagues’ brand new data team. Team Hubble focuses on application management and information visualizations, while Team Techy focuses on our IT infrastructure.

Are you our new Data Engineer?

You enjoy having the freedom to contribute to the future of data at TOPdesk and are comfortable with technical tasks as well as querying and interpreting the underlying business case.

You have experience with:

  • Data/ETL pipeline processing
  • Creating complex SQL queries
  • Cloud computing
  • GIT (or similar tools)
  • Programming
  • Modern data infrastructure (such as data warehouses, data lakes)

Knowledge of the following is a bonus:

  • Python
  • Azure
  • Cloud infrastructure
  • DAMA-DMBOK
